I have been on a skincare journey since January when I developed dermatitis after using an Insta-famous skincare product. After a weeks use of this millennial pink cleanser, I developed raw, sandpaper like skin which was rough, sore and extremely flakey. Nothing was healing it and anything new was reacting to my face, leaving me feeling tired and depressed as it was also really painful. My eyes would swell up out of nowhere and the rash would appear and turn into a rough dry patch which spread to my neck, it was a terrible 6 months and I was on steroid cream from the doctor.
I decided to strip my skincare down to the basics and started using only organic brands. In fact, the only organic brand I used was Antipodes, because I received the whole collection that month. I was worried about trying it, however, I started using it when my skin was starting to show improvement. I was on 10% improvement when I started using Antipodes. Now, I would say im on around 94%. This company has a lot to do with it and I am so happy and relieved! After months of agony, my skin started to heal within a couple of weeks of use and now its finally almost back to normal. I still have to be careful about what I use as new products do set my skin off, but it seems to really love Antipodes. Honestly, its been my absolute saviour.
Antipodes are a New Zealand organic skincare company who use organic ingredients, native to its land such as the revolutionary antioxidant found in a super fruit called Vinanza, nutrient-rich avocado oil, and Manuka honey. They are all over Instagram as their packaging is so cool. It’s those minimal looking, sleek tubes you would associate with brands like Lixir, Glossier and Bybi – the difference is with these is, they are actually good for your skin and the environment.
Their environmental sustainability policy and green beauty ethos, featuring environmentally friendly pledges like onshore production in New Zealand, recyclable packaging and independent verification of their organic products and the purest pollution-free sources. Their Manuka honey comes from sustainable hives in New Zealand’s remotest locations and they use innovative clean water methods to lower the chemical load on Earth.
Here’s what I have been using:
Aura Manuka Honey Mask – £24.99
I haven’t been able to use masks on my skin as it’s so sensitive so I have been using this luxuriously hydrating face mask every couple of weeks when I feel like I need some help with radiance and a deep cleanse. The Manuka honey has potent antibacterial properties to to prevent blemishes but unlike other deep cleansers, it draws moisture into the skin. It’s really weightless and non greasy so all I do is apply a thin layer onto my face and wait 10 minutes. It smells amazing, like honey of course, but it does also contain vanilla and mandarin. I rinse the cream off as it never dries out, even on hot days and it leaves my skin feeling super hydrated and radiant.
Grace Gentle Cream Cleanser – £24.99
This gentle cream cleanser is dermatologically approved for dry and sensitive skin. It’s a dream because instead of tissuing off, you can actually feel normal and wash it off with water. Every time I use it, it feels like I am nourishing my skin with goodness. It’s supposed to be fragrance free but it smells like honey which is so nice. It clears impurities and remove make-up gracefully but to remove my makeup, it does need help, so I only use it in the mornings. It contains 100% ingredients from natural origin – anti-inflammatory Vinanza Oxifend super-antioxidant, naturally extracted from pinot noir grapes from award-winning Marlborough vineyards. Nutrient-rich avocado oil and marigold flower. It leaves my skin feeling amazing every morning, hydrated and fresh. I love it!
Worship Skin Defence Antioxidant Serum – £34.99
I honestly worship this serum. To control my dermatitis, I started layering my skin with serums and oils to keep it hydrated. This was the first one I used. Its brown, oil free and looks like medicine, but smells amazing and my skin seems to love it and it sucks it up!
The serum defend cells against the oxidative stress that can lead to your skin’s early ageing with a daily dose of healthy antioxidants that help combat free radical damage. This supreme organic skin booster features New Zealand grown superfruits blessed with some of Nature’s highest concentrations of anti-ageing antioxidants: boysenberry, blackcurrant and kiwifruit, plus revolutionary antioxidant Vinanza Grape. When I put it on, I feel an instant boost to my skin as it absorbs straight in. The coffee and acai extracts leaves my skin looking so radiant and healthy.
Immortal Natural Sun Protection Face & Body Moisturiser SPF15 – £28.99
A moisturiser with an SPF that doesn’t irritate my skin! Wow! I still cannot believe how my dry and irritated AF skin loves this stuff! This moisturiser first of all needs to rubbed with your fingers before applying to your face or else its all white and doesn’t dissolved into the skin, that’s the SPF. Its so simple yet SO good! Moisture levels are boosted and my skin is kept firm and flawless thanks to its powerful, plant-based hyaluronic acid. Ancient Reishi mushroom of immortality are also used to enhances cell turnover for an ageless, healthy visage. The SPF 15 allows you sun exposure of up to 15 times your normal burn time and the super-antioxidant Vinanza performance plus grape & kiwi extract decreases red- ness and the effects of excess melanin production like freckles and age spots. It’s amazing!
Antipodes Saviour Skin Balm Mini – £14.99
This has literally been my saviour. I decided to stop using the steroid cream my doctor prescribed and used this instead. I apply it to the sandpaper areas of my face – so around my jaw, mouth, neck and sometimes eyes. My skin was like those cracks in the desert – rough and dark. This has really helped to soften and remove hard skin.
It is designed for skin troubles as a potent conditioner. Containing nature’s richest oils blended with the power-packed antibacterial and antifungal healing properties of totara and Australian tea tree, while antioxidant-rich echinacea and Vinanza Grape optimise cell and skin repair. Do I need to say more. I carry it with me everywhere!
This company and its products have helped me get back to normal and let me become a blogger again as all reviews were on hold. I am so thankful and truly love the products. Check them out, especially if you have sensitive skin, thinking of going organic and want to support sustainability.
