After years of abusing my hair with bleach, I recently decided I was going to significantly reduce my blonde and start taking care of my hair so that it looks and feels super silky, shiny and moves in the wind- less like straw and kind of like most people’s hair!
My hair went through a major breakthrough shortly after; I started combing out my knots in the shower, after applying conditioner, using a tangle teezer and I started using John Masters Organics shampoo and conditioner.
John Masters is created by a leading New York hair stylist who wanted to create clean beauty and pursue products that are a better, gentler way to care for hair. Working with the best organic ingredients available, he opened the world’s first “clean air” salon that used no damaging colorants and no chemical treatments, not even hairspray. With all products being formulated with 70% organic content, most of the ingredients are globally recognised —lavender, rosemary, pomegranate and rose. Their organic products are grown and harvested without the use of conventional or synthetic pesticides and fertilizers and they are industry recogised. All products are formulated without – Parabens, Synthetic BHA/BHT Preservatives, Phthalates, Formaldehyde, sulfates and Ethanolamines.
As a fan of organic and vegan products, I have noticed that it’s hard to find products that are worthy of their price point as organic products have a certain ‘natural’ feel to them – some smell funny and don’t seem like a luxury product. Clean and organic skincare and haircare is also always gentler and too be honest, do not always say what they claim to do as because they don’t have the chemicals to either plump our skin or hair with chemicals or clean by strippng away all the natural oils for that squeaky clean feel.
John Masters Organics on the other hand is the complete opposite, it’s so luxurious, smells incredible and makes my hair looking and feeling amazing. The products are beautifully packaged, brown and cream and very minimal. The smell and texture of the products remind me of when Aveda first came out and it was revolutionary. The shampoo smells like syrupy sugar and foams up to leave clean and smooth hair. The conditioners are super strong and leave that silky smooth feeling when they wash out of the hair – you know that feeling when you know you’re washing out an incredible conditioner. Best of all, they don’t weigh my hair down like most organic hair products. Below is a selection of products I have been using:
This organic Shampoo is a natural, sulfate-free shampoo created to cleanse, moisturize and balance the hair. As mentioned before, it smells less like the ingredients and more like a delicious molasses. The formula is rich, creamy and it lathers up thanks to its naturally derived surfactants. The French lavender soothes and hydrates for the perfect finish and the rosemary oil purifies and adds exquisite shine for healthy, lustrous locks.
This conditioner for dry hair is specifically formulated to help treat dry hair in multiple ways: to intensely condition, increase hair’s ability to bind and retain moisture and hydrate dry and brittle locks without weighing it own. The Lavender and Avocado is an intensely hydrating and this too is silicone-free. A little goes a long way so you don’t need much.
I am completely obsessed with this hair mask! It makes my hair look and feel SOOOO AMAZING! I think this was key to my hair transformation. Did I mention it smells incredible, like rose and it lasts all day. The mask For normal hair but I think ti works wonders on dry and damaged, coloured hair. The rose & apricot was developed with multiple benefits in mind: to help balance moisture levels, repair split ends, and cleanse the scalp. It does all of those and more.
Hair Milk with Rose & Apricot (£29.00)
This hair milk is a leave in styling product which is just as delicious as the above – it smells amazing and keeps hair in place. It offers major moisture yet doesn’t weigh the hair down and surprisingly, keeps my waves in place. Formulated with organic rose water and apricot kernel oil, this hydrating, lightweight styling product is ideal for revitalizing dull, dry hair and protects it from pollution.
